Hi!
My name is Venji. I’m a cinematographer–gaffer–director, born and raised in Moscow, Russia—now based in Brooklyn. I’ve worked across music videos, narrative, commercial, and videography projects. Since moving here, I’ve been honing my film craft.
While I have a strong aesthetic sense, I most pride myself on being stylistically flexible. I tune myself to the project’s frequency and stay there. I adapt to my collaborators’ vision, throw myself at unfamiliar ideas, and learn from them.
Shooting means putting yourself in a state of intense curiosity—and still seeing a step ahead. I’m technically proficient and extremely careful. I plan and prep with about 95% thoroughness, leaving the last 5% for chance and the unexpected—the moments worth catching. I’d like to keep my eye out for those moments with you—on whatever project feels right.
